Week 1

Read about what we have been up to over the holiday.

My Holiday

I went to the shop to buy a toy and I went home to play with my new toy. The racing car is red and it won the race. The other car was cross but why are the other cars angry? Why?

In the holiday I went to the wave pool. My sister and my dad came with me. I went on the big slide. I screamed. I said weeeeeee!

My Holiday
The first week of the holiday I went to the Rotorua spa with my friends and the water was warm. Then I went to a motel and I put my things in the room. My mum cooked dinner. Then I watched tv. Then I went to sleep. I had a fantastic day. In the second week of the holiday my friends came to my house. They ate at my house and they played with me. I had a fantastic day.

A Rainy Holiday
In the first week I turned on the fire and I was warming myself up and there was a black button. I stayed at home with my mum and dad and I played.

My Fantastic Holiday
I went to the movies and I watched Brave. Brave wanted to change her mum. She went to a witch. The witch gave Brave a cake to change her mum. I enjoyed the movie because it was cool. I went to church. There was a clown. He was juggling balls. I was laughing. He was funny. I saw all my other friends. I had fun. I had an awesome holiday.

My Lovely Holiday
I played inside with my dad in the holiday because it was wet outside. It was my birthday and I got so many presents and I had a bouncy castle. My brother and his girlfriend were hitting the ball at the bouncy castle. My friends had fun and I had fun too.

This week we talked about toys of the past. We looked at some toys that belonged to our parents.

This bear belongs to Mr Morrison. He is handmade and is 49 years old. His eyes are missing and he is filled with straw.


Week 3
We are looking forward to our trip to Howick Historical Village on Wednesday.
We had a fantastic day at Howick Historical Village. Thankfully we had good weather. We are still writing about our day.

On Thursday, we had a Olympic Maths Quiz with all the year 1 children. All the children were in teams. Mrs Berry was the quiz master. We had to work out the answers together and write them down. We had a draw so the finals will be held tomorrow.

Sam's team won the silver medal and Varshith's team won bronze.

On Friday, a nana came to visit. She brought some old photos, some coins and a newspaper. She told us about her life in New Zealand. She showed us The New Zealand Herald from 1871, a farthing, pennies, shillings and half crowns. We asked her many questions.

Week 4
This week we made our own toys. we made wooden peg dolls with the help of Bronwyn's mum. Thanks for your help.

Week 5
On Monday, the public health nurse came to teach us about bad bugs. She taught us how to get rid of germs by washing and drying our hands. We also learned how to cough and sneeze without spreading germs.

Mr Warburton visited us on Tuesday. He brought along some of the toys he had when he was a little boy. He told us about his life in New Zealand.

We had turns playing with his toys. It was great fun.
Week 6
This week we will be busy painting our pictures to be made into calendars, postcards or diaries. You will be able to order them soon.

Week 7
We have worked really hard this week to make Fathers Day very special. We used fotobabble to record a message. Please see the Fathers Day page for messages. We also wrote acrostic poems and stories about our dads. We hope you enjoyed reading them.

A Keen Cricket Player
Selwin has been teaching all of us about cricket. He knows many of the NZ cricket players. He went to the airport twice to meet them. The first time he got many signatures on his bat. The second time he was very lucky to get a vest from Ross Taylor.

Week 9
On Friday we had a year 1 assembly. Rooms 2a, 2c and 3a performed a play called The Great Car Clean-out. The actors and actresses from 3a were Avi, Anamika and Bronwyn.


Week 10
On Thursday we finally had our junior cross country. Many parents came to support the children. We tried our best. The fastest girl in 3a is Zeina. The fastest boy is Selwin. Well done to everyone for taking part.





On Friday the year 1 children had a Wheels Day. The children brought their bikes, scooters, a skateboard and toys with wheels. The children had to wear helmets. We had lots of fun.
